Based on the 1977 children's novel of the same name, "Bridge to Terabithia" is about the friendship between 10-year-olds Jess and Leslie and a magical fantasy land they create together.

Based on the 1977 children's novel of the same name, "Bridge to Terabithia" is about the friendship between 10-year-olds Jess and Leslie and a magical fantasy land they create together.  The main characters have a non-romantic relationship that exemplifies true friendship.  The film contains themes that may be troubling to some children, such as family relationships and death.  There is mild bullying language, some potentially frightening fantasy characters, and a tragic accident.

What reviewers are saying about Bridge to Terabithia:
The San Fransisco Chronicle's Peter Hartlaub comments, "There's an element of sadness in "Bridge to Terabithia" that you don't get in most films that are made for children. In addition to a few specific downer events, the plot itself has a melancholy tinge -- there's something wrong when kids have to invent magic rope swings and enchanted lands to escape bullying at school and an unfulfilling home life."

Jeremy Lees of Plugged In Online describes, "The fighting remains pretty tame as combat victims simply disappear in a poof. Younger children may be frightened by the appearance of a giant and other fantastical beings."

Common Sense Media's Sandie Angulo Chen writes, "The story includes mature themes about loneliness, platonic love, parental affection, family relationships, religious/class differences, and even death."
